The work of this role may be conducted remotely with full access to the needed operating systems and technology.
This is a full-time, limited duration, classified position and is represented by a union. Limited duration positions are benefit eligible. The duration of this position is expected to last 24 months. This recruitment may be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill future vacancies.
What will you do?
As the STD Prevention Specialist, you will provide consultation and coordinate training for local public health authority staff who act as STD/HIV contact tracers (Disease Intervention Specialists) across Oregon. You will act as a contract monitor and technical liaison for counties receiving new funding to hire and retain Disease Intervention Specialists, the staff responsible for conducting HIV/STD case investigations and contact tracing. You will work collaboratively with other OHA HIV/STD Prevention & Surveillance staff to answer questions, provide technical assistance, and identify additional resources to assist Disease Intervention Specialists and other local public health authority staff. Additionally, you will play an important role in tracking data and compiling information and writing content for federal grant applications, work plans, and progress reports.

What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in public health, occupational health, public administration, or closely related degree, AND two (2) years of experience coordinating a public health program or closely related healthcare program,
OR
A combination of five (5) years of experience and education, coordinating a public health program or closely related healthcare program.
Requested Skills:
* Experience designing, implementing, and coordinating public health projects and using project plans.
* Knowledge and/or experience with HIV and STD prevention systems, services, and programs, with a preference for advanced knowledge of HIV/STD partner services/disease intervention work.
* Experience analyzing processes and functions, and communicating objectives to technical staff, professional staff, managers, and employees.
* Experience effectively communicating ideas, recommendations, and technical information to technical and non-technical persons.
* Experience developing and presenting training materials to agency staff and managers.
* Lived experience, cultural understanding, and/or language expertise to ensure effective community-centered communications.
* Experience creating, promoting, welcoming, and maintaining a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
