Community-Tailored Harm Reduction Marketing and Communications Plans Webinar

Join us on Tuesday, July 9th, at 2pm EDT/11am PDT to learn about NACCHO's collaboration with Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) and eight local harm reduction programs to develop community-tailored harm reduction marketing and communications campaigns and a toolkit. Hear from staff of two programs, Corazon Ministries, Inc in Texas and Project Mayday in West Virginia, about the tailored marketing and communications they have created to support harm reduction in their communities, as well as from ORAU on the development of the toolkit and how harm reduction programs can build meaning communications and marketing campaigns in their communities.

Speakers:

Madelein Santibanez
Corazón Ministries, Inc.
Director of Harm Reduction

Corazón Ministries operates in Bexar County, Texas, the only jurisdiction in the state authorized to provide syringe services legally through a pilot program. Uniquely positioned to demonstrate the efficacy of harm reduction and to bolster support for wider authorization throughout Texas, Corazón Ministries engaged participants with lived experience to create compelling video testimonials to reduce stigma and promote their program's successes.

Tasha Withrow
Project Mayday
Co-founder

Project Mayday, a West Virginia-based peer-led mutual aid and harm reduction initiative, created a photo essay to challenge the misinformation and stigma about harm reduction in West Virginia. Using personal interviews, photographs, local data and statistics, and media outlets, Project Mayday aims to change the narrative and understanding of harm reduction strategies and to humanize people who use drugs in West Virginia.

Kristin Mattson, MPH, MCHES
Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU)
Health Education Specialist

Through a NACCHO-funded project, ORAU provides communication technical assistance to eight harm reduction programs (HRPs) and leads the development of a toolkit that will assist HRPs nationally with their communication efforts. Drawing on over a decade of experience developing communication materials and campaigns that support harm reduction programs and people who use drugs, ORAU will share lessons learned from the technical assistance project and introduce the new harm reduction communication toolkit.

Thanks,

Sonia
