Description: The purpose of this proof-of-concept program is to leverage existing health care institutions’ capacity to prevent, test for, treat, and cure Hepatitis C (HCV) in individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) and/or severe mental illness (SMI), particularly in communities severely affected by homelessness and to gain insights on effective ways to identify patients, complete treatment and reduce reinfection.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants are States and Territories, including the District of Columbia, political subdivisions of States, Indian tribes or tribal organizations (as such terms are defined in section 5304 of title 25), health facilities, or programs operated by or in accordance with a contract or award with the Indian Health Service, or other public or private non-profit entities, including faith-based organizations.

Anticipated Total Available Funding: $100,000,000
Anticipated Number of Awards: 13-40 awards
Anticipated Award Amount: Up to $2,500,000 - $7,500,000 per award for the first 2 years (up to $1,250,000 - $3,750,000 per year)
Length of Project: Up to 3 years

On July 17, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. EDT, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will hold a 60-minute webinar and conference call on a recently released Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for a Hepatitis C Elimination Initiative Pilot (TI-25-005).
SAMHSA staff will lead the webinar, presenting on basic information related to the grant, such as the grant’s purpose, funding, length of the project, and time periods; applicant eligibility criteria; application requirements; required and allowable activities; data collection and reporting; funding restrictions; application evaluation criteria; and contact information.

STI/HIV Program Director Orientation for Rural Areas
NACCHO is launching a training and mentorship program for new and emerging program leaders responsible for STD/HIV programs. This orientation is ONLY for individuals with less than two years of experience who work in rural, local, or tribal health departments - this is defined as serving populations of less than 99,000. The orientation is a free, in-person, 1.5-day meeting from September 15 (full day) through September 16, 2025 (half day) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
