Dear Syndemic Health Partners:
We are excited to share the 2024 – 2030 Oregon Viral Hepatitis Elimination Plan<https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/DISEASESCONDITIONS/HIVSTDVIRALHEPATITIS/ADULTVIRALHEPATITIS/SiteAssets/Pages/Viral-Hepatitis-Elim-Plan/ORVHEliminationPlan.pdf>, and our revamped viral hepatitis webpage<https://www.oregon.gov/oha/ph/diseasesconditions/hivstdviralhepatitis/adultviralhepatitis/pages/index.aspx> with you. The plan was developed by Oregon Health Authority staff with many community-based, advocacy, health care and agency partners.
There are Four Pillars or goals within this plan:
1. Prevent new infections;
2. Improve health outcomes;
3. Eliminate health disparities and inequities; and
4. Improve surveillance and data use.
As a professional in our communities who work with people with multiple health needs, including mental health, substance use, and peer-driven navigation needs, there are many ways you can assist in micro-elimination of HCV in your community. Specifically, consider:
* Familiarize yourself with the Medicaid FAQ regarding cost-savings of HCV curative treatments<https://stateofhepc.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/State-of-Hep-C-Treatment-Costs-Fact-Sheet.pdf>;
* Familiarize yourself with the SAMHSA dear colleague letter (12/9/24<https://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/media/pdfs/2024/12/SAMHSA-CDC-DCL-HIV-Viral-Hepatitis-Testing-December-2024-508c_FINAL.pdf>) promoting HIV and viral hepatitis B and C testing for all people using drugs;
* Familiarize yourself with OHSU Peer-Assisted Telehealth for HCV and Syphilis (PATHS<https://peerpathstohealth.org/>); and
* Familiarize yourself with syndemic harm reduction resources through the Save Lives Oregon clearinghouse (SLO<https://www.savelivesoregon.org/reduction-clearinghouse/>).
Remember, you don’t have to do this work alone! We are very interested to partner with you and others in your community to prevent, identify, and treat or cure viral hepatitis. Together we can support all people living with, or at risk for, viral hepatitis to get the care and treatment they deserve.
Please reach out to the viral hepatitis team for more information at:

Dearest colleagues,
Our team is beginning the process of updating the Wound Care and Medical Triage for PWUD and Programs that Serve Them<https://nastad.org/sites/default/files/2023-04/PDF-Wound-Care-And-Triage.pdf> resource. Originally released in early 2023, this guide was developed based on input from SSPs, harm reduction services providers, and the people they serve.
As we begin updates to the guide, we are asking for your participation in prioritizing topics to add or expand in the updated version based on your own or broader community experience. This guide is intended to be used by people who use drugs and the community-based organizations, grassroots programs, health departments, and other harm reduction service providers that work with people who use drugs to provide first-aid tips, preventative health suggestions, and an overview of injection related-infections for people who use drugs and people who are living outdoors.
To share your input, please fill out and submit t<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdhKT-1FBzAFPpFSRCg8ea1uJwguvSma1IYI4VGg0wAKnPCig/viewform?usp=header>his survey<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdhKT-1FBzAFPpFSRCg8ea1uJwguvSma1IYI4VGg0wAKnPCig/viewform?usp=header> no later than April 11, 2025.
If you have questions or would like to provide additional feedback, please contact DrugUserHealthTA at NASTAD.org<mailto:DrugUserHealthTA at NASTAD.org>. Thank you for your participation!
Thanks,
Elika
