<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white">The ADPC is an independent state government agency created by the Oregon Legislature to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state and local substance use disorder prevention, treatment,
 and recovery services. </span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white">While ADPC Commissioners are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate, a person who is not a commission member may be appointed by the ADPC Commission to serve on a subcommittee.

<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white"> </span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white">The purpose of this communication is to ask you to consider applying to participate in the ADPC Harm Reduction Subcommittee.
</span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white">The Harm Reduction Committee is a new committee within the ADPC, and up to 10 slots are open for subcommittee members who represent interested parties directly impacted by ADPC’s work.  </span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white"> </span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white">Currently, we are</span><span style="color:#242424;background:white"> looking for representatives outside of the Portland Metro area and/or people who provide culturally and/or linguistically
 specific services.</span><span style="color:black;background:white"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white">The estimated time commitment for the Harm Reduction Subcommittee is 2-3 hours per month, which includes participating in subcommittee meetings, reading materials, and providing input to the subcommittee
 assignments.  </span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white">The Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission adopted
</span><a href="https://www.oregon.gov/adpc/SiteAssets/Pages/index/ADPC%20December%202023%20Overdose%20Recommendations.pdf"><span style="background:white">14 recommendations</span></a><span style="color:black;background:white"> in December 2023 to address deaths
 in Oregon related to overdose with three specific to harm reduction.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p style="margin:0in"><span style="color:black;background:white">These recommendations will frame the committee’s work over the next several years. </span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
