<i><span style="color:#007C89">Important Information on Use of Unapproved Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Blood Sample Self-Collection Kits,</span></i></a> advising public health programs administering HIV testing that HIV blood sample self-collection kits
are being marketed in the United States without the required FDA marketing authorization. Currently, FDA has not authorized any self-collection kits to collect blood samples, including dried blood spot self-collection cards, for HIV testing. <br>
<br>
This notice greatly impacts telePrEP programs utilizing DBS technology for HIV screenings as part of PrEP initiation and continuation labs.<br>
<br>
Starting on Friday, November 1, 2024, the TakeMeHome program will be removing HIV DBS testing from their testing options in accordance with the FDA warning letter. Other telePrEP programs utilizing this testing technology may be following suit in compliance
with the FDA notice. Currently, OraQuick In-Home HIV Test is the only HIV self-test with FDA authorization.<br>

TelePrEP programs have developed successful models that don’t depend on DBS self-collection kits through partnerships with commercial and public health laboratories.<br>

<p style="background:white"><span style="font-size:13.0pt;color:black">NASTAD is pleased to announce the upcoming webinar, “The Patient-Led Methadone Movement: How a Group of Drug Users and Patients Changed Methadone Forever” on Tuesday, November 12, 3:00 –
4:15 PM ET. Until recently, little had changed about methadone access for the entirety of its existence. But in the last year alone, more changes have been made to the regulations governing this treatment than in the over sixty years it has been offered. These
changes come amid the worst rates of overdose the United States has ever seen and follow on the heels of a pandemic that had a devastating impact on people who use drugs. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="elementtoproof" style="background:white"><span style="font-size:13.0pt;color:black">This webinar will tell the story of how a small group of drug users not only survived these conditions but found a way to unite in the fight to change the face of
methadone administration throughout the country. This webinar will review the origins of this nationwide coalition, comprised of a group of noncompliant methadone patients who refused to stop fighting for the right to better treatment, outline key timelines
and advocacy efforts, and highlight the courageous work that sparked a movement to reform methadone toward a more patient-centered, humanistic approach.
