permanence status (perennial or seasonal); and 3) identification of fish-bearing streams. This email addresses the current status, plans, and opportunities for elements #1 and #2."<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#002060">For ~7 years now, the USFS, BLM and others have been using high-resolution, LiDAR-derived elevation data to significantly improve the accuracy of our stream/waterbody geodatabases.
Initially these improvements were incorporated into the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD; see dark purple areas in attached PDF map). Now, these products are being developed and incorporated into USGS’s new
<a href="https://www.usgs.gov/3DHP">3D Hydrography Program (3DHP).</a> As shown in the attached map (pink areas), USFS, USGS, the State of WA, Tribal Nations and others have work currently underway or planned for FY25-26 that will significantly expand the
availability of this high-quality hydrography data in coming years. We have opportunities to further expand that footprint. For example, USGS currently plans to open the FY25
<a href="https://www.usgs.gov/3d-national-topography-model/data-collaboration-announcement-portal">
Data Collaboration Announcement </a>(DCA, a national process for them to find and select partners interested in developing 3DHP data) in August 2024. As part of the DCA process, USFS and other federal agencies have identified high priority areas for 3DHP data
development/acquisition (see USFS priority subbsasins/HUC-8 outlined in blue hatching on the attached map).
<b><span style="background:aqua;mso-highlight:aqua">Please contact me if you’re both interested in acquiring 3DHP data via the pending DCA process
<u>and</u> you believe there are significant opportunities to secure partner funding to improve the viability of a DCA proposal.</span>
</b>Costs for 3DHP are ~$0.20/acre or ~$100,000 per for a 500k acre subbasin/HUC-8. To be competitive in the national DCA process, proposals should generally include a 1:1 or better local match for any requested USGS funding.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#002060">To improve characterization of flow permanence status, BLM, USGS, USFS and others developed and have been implementing the FLOwPER project for several years now. The foundation
of that project is the collection of quick and simple late-season streamflow status observations across large geographic extents via crowdsourcing. To facilitate data collection, training for the FLOwPER field protocol and mobile App is scheduled for June
25<sup>th</sup>. In addition, comparable training for the RoadxStr App (road-stream interactions) is being offered on June 27<sup>th</sup>. See attached email for details.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
