Subject: [IWRS] Comment Opportunity: Place-Based Planning
Dear IWRS Listserv members -
This email contains a request for help with the implementation of Oregon's Integrated Water Resources Strategy, specifically Recommended Action #9A, "Undertake Place-Based Integrated Water Resources Planning." For more information regarding this action, refer to Chapter 4<http://www.oregon.gov/owrd/LAW/docs/i_Chapter_4_Final.pdf> of the Strategy.
The Oregon Water Resources Department has released a Discussion Paper that examines regional or local water planning approaches from three other states - California, Texas, and Washington. This paper examines key planning elements that could inform Oregon's approach to place-based planning. Several questions are posed throughout the paper, and serve as a starting point for discussion with stakeholders and the public. You can access the Discussion Paper in the attached PDF or via the Department's website at: http://www.oregon.gov/owrd/LAW/docs/IWRS/2014_03_10_IWRS_Place_Based_Discussion_Paper_Final.pdf
This spring, the Department is seeking the public's input on designing Oregon's approach to place-based planning. If your organization is interested in hosting a workshop-style discussion, please contact me. Public comments can also be sent directly to waterstrategy at wrd.state.or.us<mailto:waterstrategy at wrd.state.or.us> or to the address listed below. Comments will be accepted through Monday, June 30, 2014.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Alyssa
