I know many of us deeply appreciate Beverly Cleary's work and contributions to kids' literature. She graduated from the University of Washington's Information School, and I wanted to forward the below opportunity to celebrate Beverly Cleary's life and work this weekend. Ramona Rocks: A Celebration of the life and work of Beverly Cleary
Sunday, May 16, 2021 1:00-2:30 p.m. PT

The University of Washington's Beverly Cleary Professor, Dr. Michelle H. Martin, invites you to bring your favorite Beverly Cleary novel and join a fun and informative virtual celebration of the iSchool's most famous alumna. Author of 40 books, Cleary sought to write books kids would want to read. She succeeded; kids have been reading her books since 1950.

Librarians from around Washington State will read aloud favorite passages from Cleary's books, and Chris Szekely, Chief Librarian of the Alexander Turnbull Library at the National Library of New Zealand, will read from his Ramona-inspired Maori novel, Rona. Guests will discuss their favorite Cleary books and discover titles they haven't yet read.

Both children and adults will enjoy the event. RSVP here<https://ischool.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5d1eae0530dea8633eb9b8589&id=169e073a6a&e=122cc3476e>.

At the end of the academic year, the iSchool comes together to celebrate the variety of work Informatics, MLIS, and MSIM students have been engaged with for their culminating project. This year capstone will be held entirely online, and attendees will be able to select the projects that interest them and take part in Q&A sessions with students in breakout rooms. Project descriptions for this year are forthcoming, but you can review past projects at https://ischool.uw.edu/capstone/projects<https://ischool.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5d1eae0530dea8633eb9b8589&id=ba3a1c9dae&e=122cc3476e>.
