Listen to Oregon's very own Deborah Hopkinson's interview on Reading Rockets:
http://www.readingrockets.org/books/interviews/hopkinson

There are several short clips. You can either select one of the 1-3 minute clip on the topic you are particularly interested in or watch them all in succession. This is a wonderful interview!

Deborah Hopkinson

Deborah Hopkinson writes
history and historical fiction books for young children and teens. As a
child, she noticed a decided lack of information about women and girls
in her history textbooks, and many of her own books reflect her love of
history and her keen interest in presenting children's — particularly
girls'— contributions to U.S. history.

In our interview Hopkinson discusses her mission to make history
come alive for students, her meticulous attention to historical
details, and her love of sharing good books with her own children.

Katie Anderson, Library Development Services
* Youth Services Consultant * Oregon Center for the Book Coordinator *
Oregon State Library, 250 Winter St. NE, Salem, OR 97301
katie.anderson@state.or.us, 503-378-2528
