<p class="MsoNormal">I want to mention that we were very close in the selection of authors and illustrators during the Mock Pura Belpré Award.

<p class="MsoNormal">However, one of the Illustrator Honor Books selected in the ALA Midwinter Conference,
<i>My Tata’s Remedies / Los remedios de mi tata </i>by Antonio Castro L. which was included in the list of suggested books to be voted for the Mock<b>
</b>Pura Belpré Award, was eliminated from the list before the election. At the beginning of the selection I mentioned that beautiful book to all of you as
<b>not </b>eligible to compete because the illustrator was born in Mexico and because I couldn’t find anywhere a reference of where he lives (everything indicated that his residence was still in Mexico, thus I assumed that his residence was still in that country).
My fault, I should have called to Cinco Puntos Press to get more info. A lesson for me and a disappointment, especially because it’s a beautiful informative story, very well written and illustrated, and representative of our Latino culture. This definitely
was a learning experience. <o:p></o:p></p>
