<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt">A:</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"> In the past, printing and distributing hardcopies of the summer reading certificates was paid for by a donation. The donation funds are no longer available.
The State Library surveyed public libraries to ask if they thought printing and distributing the certificates was a good use of State Library funds. The results of the survey were shared with the executive boards of OLA’s Children’s Services Division and Oregon
Young Adults Network, and both organizations recommended that the State Library 1) discontinue printing and distributing hardcopies, 2) make a black-and-white certificate available to download for those who don’t have a color printer, and 3) provide a few
local funding suggestions. The State Library decided to follow these recommendations.
