<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black;background:white">Sarah Hinkle started working in public libraries at age 16 and never stopped. Her 15+ year career has spanned Ohio, New York and Oregon. In her first professional position as a children's librarian
at Queens Library she spent 5 years working at several of the busiest locations across the 63 branches. She was promoted to Assistant Coordinator of Children's Services, then Coordinator of Early Learning Services where she was the Director of the first preschool
located in a public library. Her heart led her to Portland, Oregon where she is currently a children’s librarian at West Linn Public Library. Early literacy has been a passion throughout her career, with her undergraduate in early childhood education. She
has previously served ALSC on the Early Childhood Programs and Services Committee as well as the Every Child Ready to Read 2 Oversight Committee, published articles in <i>Children &</i> Libraries sharing best practices and presented nationally at ALA conferences.
She has led Mock Caldecott events both for youth as well as staff training and considers it a great honor (and lifelong dream!) to be considered for this distinctive opportunity to critically evaluate American picture book illustrations with a group of peers
across the country.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif;color:#222222"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black;background:white">Andrea Milano's career has come full circle, from Clackamas County to Multnomah County and back again, with a brief interlude in Clatsop County. She is now the Youth Services Manager at Lake Oswego
Public Library. She has served children and their caregivers with passion and commitment, promoting books and early literacy in as many ways as possible, for 20+ years. She was the first public librarian to receive the International Reading Association's
Celebrate Literacy Award in 2008 and that same Summer was featured in Portland Monthly’s "Best Of" issue as the Best Storyteller (really they meant best delivery of storytime). Andrea has served on various YALSA (Popular Paperbacks) and ALSC (Intellectual
Freedom and Public Awareness) committees, including the 2010 Newbery award committee. That work was some of the most exciting and challenging she’s done. It was a privilege and honor to work collaboratively with librarians from a variety of different literacy
communities. She is inspired to represent Oregon on the 2018 Caldecott committee and continue the tradition of so many great librarians from all around the state who've done the same. </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif;color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black;background:white">Heather McNeil has been a youth services librarian for 39 years, beginning in Littleton, CO. That’s where she also began her parallel careers as a professional storyteller and author, culminating
with the opportunity to represent the United States at international storytelling festivals in Scotland and New Zealand, and publishing two collections of folklore, based on stories she heard while traveling in Kenya and Scotland. She moved to Oregon 17 years
ago, which was one of the smartest things she ever did! She is now a Public Services Manager for Deschutes Public Library, supervising youth, outreach and Latino services. Heather joined the Oregon wave of promoting early literacy and is certified as a Specialty
Master Trainer, which has brought her to many beautiful parts of Oregon in order to teach the joys of books for age 0-5. She is the author of <i>Read, Rhyme and Romp: Early Literacy Skills and Activities for Librarians, Teachers and Parents, </i>as well as
many articles for<i> Children and Libraries, </i> and <i>The OLA Quarterly. </i>Heather has served on the 2005 Newbery, the 2008 Notable Children’s Recordings, and the 2013 Wilder Committees. The Oregon Library Association named Heather as the Librarian
of the Year in 2014. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
