I also would not advertise the books ahead of time, but I might announce a theme in advance instead if you have one. My reasoning is that what is read is ultimately determined by the audience and the energy of the room. Some days are shorter book days for shorter attention spans. Children might be older or calmer another day, and then you can read a longer book. Every day is different, so I don't lock yourself into books that you'd rather not read.

On Tue, Feb 7, 2023 at 10:08 AM Holly Campbell-Polivka via Kids-lib <kids-lib@omls.oregon.gov> wrote:

I have also had that request. I won’t do it. The request I had came from someone who complained about a book with content they objected to that I had shared. Though I do plan in advance, I always select more than I plan to read and then
decide what I’m reading based on the ages and energy level of the kids that particular day. And even if I did announce all the potential books in advance (which isn’t a way I would prioritize my time in my busy schedule), sometimes plans change for various
other reasons. I think announcing ahead of time opens us up to all sorts of complaints, the least of which could even be a disappointed kid that didn’t get to hear the story they were hoping to hear, the most of which could be calls for banning books.
