A couple of months ago, I posted about an opportunity to provide feedback about the draft version of a new state-level framework focused on developing literacy in adolescents. Today the Oregon Department of Education (ODE)
<u><a href="https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/ORED/bulletins/3d3e407"><span style="color:#104862;mso-style-textfill-fill-color:#104862;mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha:100.0%">announced</span></a></u> that the final version is available:
<b><i><u><a href="https://www.oregon.gov/ode/educator-resources/standards/ELA/Documents/ORAdolescentLiteracyFramework_2025.pdf"><span style="color:#104862;mso-style-textfill-fill-color:#104862;mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha:100.0%">Oregon’s Adolescent Literacy
Framework</span></a></u></i></b>. “The framework follows the implementation of the Early Literacy Success Initiative by providing guidance and best practices for research-based literacy instruction in middle and high school.” It is meant for all secondary-level
educators – not just those who specifically teach reading. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

resources, including a link to the Oregon School Library Standards. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

through a reference to surveys about community resources. That’s as opposed to <b>
<i><u><a href="https://www.oregon.gov/ode/educator-resources/standards/ELA/Documents/Literacy%20Framework_2023.pdf"><span style="color:#104862;mso-style-textfill-fill-color:#104862;mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha:100.0%">Oregon’s Early Literacy Framework: A Strong
Foundation for Readers and Writers (K-5)</span></a></u></i></b>, which was published in May 2023 (<u><a href="https://www.oregon.gov/ode/educator-resources/standards/ELA/Pages/Early-Literacy.aspx"><span style="color:#104862;mso-style-textfill-fill-color:#104862;mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha:100.0%">landing
page</span></a></u>). The role of libraries in developing literacy is briefly addressed on pages 15 and 16.<br>
