NACCHO is conducting a needs assessment related to quality improvement (QI)
and performance management technical assistance (TA) and resources across
health departments. We would appreciate your feedback on how we can improve
our resources and how we can expand QI and performance management (PM) TA

*Request for Proposals: Faith Based Organization Subject Matter Expert for
Partnerships Meeting*
NACCHO is pleased to announce a new request for propoals for a faith based
organization subject matter expert. This person will support preparation
for and implementation of a 1.5 day meeting in May 2017 in Washington, DC
that will bring together local health departments, non-profit hospitals and
faith based organizations to enhance local partnerships to address socail
detemrinants of health in community health improvmeent planning processes.

*NACCHO Congratulates Newest Accredited Health Departments*
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO)
congratulates an additional 11 local health departments and one state
health department that have received accreditation from the Public Health
Accreditation Board (PHAB). Each went through a rigorous assessment process
to become accredited.
The local health departments awarded five-year accreditation status on
November 15, 2016 are: Cleveland County Health Department, Norman, OK;
Flathead City-County Health Department, Kalispell, MT; Humboldt County
Department of Health and Human Services Public Health, Eureka, CA; Pasadena
Public Health Department, Pasadena, CA; Pueblo City-County Health
Department, Pueblo, CO; Weld County Department of Public Health and
Environment, Greeley, CO; Barry-Eaton District Health Department,
Charlotte, MI; Dallas County Health and Human Services, Dallas, TX; Garrett
County Health Department, Oakland, MD; Kanawha-Charleston Health
Department, Charleston, WV; and, Yamhill County Public Health, McMinnville,
OR.
The state health department is Montana DPHHS Public Health and Safety
Division, Helena, MT.
This group of twelve public health departments brings the number of
governmental public health departments now recognized by PHAB as
high-performing health departments to 162, collectively serving 56 Percent
of U.S. Population.

Consider Partnering with CDC to Host and Train the Future Public Health
Workforce
The Public Health Associate Program (PHAP) from the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC

will be accepting applications January 3-19, 2017 to host a public health
associate starting in October 2017. PHAP is a two year training program
with the mission to train and provide experiential learning to early-career
public health professionals.
CDC developed a two-part technical assistance webinar series for potential
host organizations to learn more about PHAP and applying to host an
associate:
