Hi folks,

I am seeking advice from libraries with experience on water damage to collections.

I know there has been lots of experience in other parts of the country, so if anyone has contacts for that, I'd appreciate it too.

Early this week, dirty/contaminated water leaked down from apartments above the library onto the stacks. It did obvious damage to areas of books and the carpet and ceiling. We do not yet know the extent of damage to adjacent book areas, carpet under the shelving and within the ceiling.

We have engaged a cleaning and restoration company, but I'm guessing there are some tips and cautions from other libraries.

Thanks for you support!
