The Untold Story of Black Librarians. This webinar explores the historical challenges and triumphs faced by Black librarians-from segregated libraries and systemic barriers to their role in advocating for intellectual freedom and social justice. Discover how their legacy not only transformed library services but also continues to inspire community empowerment and cultural preservation today. This webinar was presented by Rodney Freeman, the visionary behind the Are You A Librarian? Building Bridges: Democracy, Peace, and Conflict Resolution in the Modern World<https://elearning.ala.org/local/catalog/view/product.php?productid=1323> (ALA eLearning)
In a world marked by increasing polarization, societal fragmentation, and a sense of unease, the concepts of peace and collaboration often seem left out of public discussion. In this series, we will spend a morning fostering dynamic discussion developing innovative strategies to use the library as a catalyst for addressing regional and local conflicts. The event will feature two key sessions: Examples from the Field and Tools and Strategies. Participants will learn from libraries sharing insights about how to successfully navigate conflicts in the communities we serve, where practical approaches and resources will be explored. For librarians, who are at the heart of their communities, this format offers a powerful way to harness collective knowledge and creativity, ensuring that they are well-equipped to address the complex social issues they encounter.

HIGHLIGHTED WEBINARS:

Wednesday, June 11, 11:00a PT: 3D Printing Basics<https://www.nnlm.gov/training/class/3d-printing-basics> (NNLM)
This presentation will cover the basics of 3D printing. Attendees will learn why they might want to purchase a 3D printer and what to look for in a printer. They will also learn what they need to get started in 3D printing and how even a basic 3D printer can be useful in a medical setting.

Super Searchers and Meet LEO webinar series<https://www.ala.org/pla/initiatives/informationliteracy/supersearchers> (PLA and Google)
The ease with which misinformation can be created and spread online endangers everyday discourse-and libraries are uniquely suited to help counteract its negative effects. Google has created a new set of tools for evaluating material found online, making it easier to think critically about the veracity of digital information right at the point of search. New this year are additional tools to help library workers guide parents, caregivers and educators in safely navigating online with their children. Library consultant Toby Greenwalt demonstrates the capabilities of Super Searchers and Meet LEO and showcases potential applications in the library workspace.

Each webinar covers the same content, you only need to register once:

SAVE THE DATE:

Wednesday, July 9, 11:00a PT: Calling it Quits: How to Evaluate Library Services and Decide What to Stop Doing<https://gla.georgialibraries.org/carterette-series-webinars/> (Carterette Series Webinars)
Following a period of disruption, library leaders often need to realign service offerings with current organizational priorities and resources. In this session, the speakers will introduce a new model that was designed and applied at a large research library in an effort to redefine, reevaluate, and right-size research service offerings to better align with current staffing levels and support work-life balance. The model includes: (1) a rubric designed to aid in the evaluation of service offerings against available resources and campus needs; (2) a reusable checklist to support the sunsetting of services; and (3) a service template to clarify ongoing services for internal and external audiences. In this session, participants will use the model to engage in hands-on learning as they assess the sustainability and resource levels of the service offerings at their own institution. They will be positioned to identify potential service changes to align internal and external communication strategies for supported change. The session will also be infused with change management practices that center people and support them as individuals through the transformation process.
