Read more about OFN and the February program below:
In a time of scarce resource for librarians, Cultural Literacy in Library Programming supports library program administrators in moving beyond transactional relationships and into sustaining partnerships with hired culture bearers. Successful cross-cultural communication and artist hospitality are essential to fostering these partnerships. Come learn alongside colleagues and strategically build cultural programming that will better serve your library staff, Oregon’s culture bearers, and your library's communities.
Oregon Folklife Network is the state’s designated folk & traditional arts program. Our primary mission is to provide immediate and tangible benefits to Oregon’s culture bearers — art practitioners committed to continuing their cultural community’s traditions. Through our curated Oregon Culture Keepers Roster<https://ofn.uoregon.edu/>, many culture bearers are hired by museums, schools, and libraries to provide public programming about their traditions. In effort to promote use of the roster and foster stronger cross-cultural relationships, Oregon Folklife Network provides professional training to hiring entities.
Thank you to the Roundhouse Foundation, whose support makes this program free and accessible to Oregon librarians.
