I got my first request this year for Beyond Voting - Elections and Campaign
Finance. This is for a library in Connecticut and I suggested that there is
so much that is going on - election laws, suppression, changes to VRA,
redistricting, etc. - that we could omit the instruction on their state's
campaign finance database [and thus there wouldn't be the extra fee for that
research].

 

I'll be taking the elections materials I've been collecting and doing a
major update to the workshop that will be useful to all sponsoring libraries
and groups everywhere. If you are in Oregon I am always ready to show our
campaign finance database. If you are in another state, you can decide
whether or not you would like me to research and discuss your state's
campaign finance database, or that can be omitted. There is so much going on
with elections!

This worries me. Erasing/changing history is never a good sign for a
country. "Justice Department deletes press releases on charges against Jan.
6 rioters"."The Justice Department confirmed that it had deleted the press
releases as part of 'stripping DOJ's website of partisan propaganda.'" 
What is "partisan" is the removal of the information.

president has agreed to back off.

Update to.The latest effort by the president to - in one fell swoop -
reward, with taxpayer money, those convicted of violations on Jan 6, while
at the same time give himself and family a "get out of jail free" card for
any tax violations he may have committed up to now, is stunning.
Fortunately, folks from both sides of the aisle are alarmed and appear to
want to take action.

Update: a court has stayed any disbursement of funds. There will be a
hearing on June 12. Should be interesting!
