[Libs-Or] Historic Building Woes

Hi all,

The Oakland Public Library is currently located in a historic building.
When they renovated the space for the library, I don't think they actually
understood the impact the weight of all of the books would have on the
building. We need to rearrange some of our stacks so they go
across multiple joists.

Has any other library had to do this? If so, do you have any
recommendations for contractors and how this was accomplished?

Another question, does anyone know of any grants for purchasing land and
building a new library? I tried the Community Development Block grant from
Business Oregon and apparently Douglas County, in general, and Oakland,
specifically, are not poor enough (if they think that, they need to rethink
how they get their information and the interpretation of that). Anyway, any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One last question, does anyone have any suggestions for grant managing
software to make it easier for me and our City Recorder to communicate
grant expenditures?

Thanks.
