<P>The Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon is seeking applicants for a
part-time Outreach Coordinator Librarian/ Humanities Reference Librarian at the
Central Library located in downtown Portland. This position will be responsible
for outreach coordination and administration to raise awareness of the Central
Library and its resources for adults and families in the greater downtown area.
The position will also provide professional reference and readers’ advisory
services to customers of all ages. </P>
<P>Duties include working with Central Library leaders and staff to plan and
deliver outreach initiatives throughout the year; developing community
partnerships and relationships; working to raise awareness of Central Library
and its resources to selected groups; coordinating and assisting staff with the
development, scheduling, publicity, and implementation of outreach activities.
The ability to communicate with ease in a variety of settings, excellent project
management and organizational skills, and a strong service orientation are
required.</P>
<P>The person in this position will also provide direct reference and readers’
advisory service, in person, over the telephone, and electronically, to Library
users.</P>
<P>Experience: No experience is required; however, two years of professional
librarian experience is desirable. Two years of experience planning and
presenting a wide array of library outreach events and activities is highly
desirable. </P>
<P>Training: An ALA accredited Master's degree in Library Science or its
equivalent is required. </P>

PROGRAMMING & ADULT SERVICES MANAGER<BR><BR>Large, busy, urban library seeks
creative, engaged, people-person to lead its reference, programming, and adult
services.<BR>SALARY: $67,376 to $94,325 annually<BR></P>
<P>The Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon is seeking applicants for a
Reference, Programming and Adult Services Manager position. This position will
be responsible for the development, coordination, support and review of
reference, public programming, and adult services for the Library to ensure
consistent quality.</P>
<P>This person reports to the Deputy Director and will work closely and
collaboratively with the Youth Services Coordinator and the directors of the
Central Library and Neighborhood Libraries to ensure a high standard of public
service across the library system. Most of the services this position
coordinates are delivered by Neighborhood, Central, and Outreach staff, many of
whom do not report directly to this position. </P>
<P>In addition, this position will advise and work closely with the Collections
Manager and the training department. The Reference, Programming & Adult
Services Coordinator will represent related issues to the senior management team
while maintaining a system-wide approach and will provide highly responsible,
complex staff assistance to the Deputy Director and Director.</P>
<P>Requires demonstrated leadership and management experience in librarianship
typically gained through at least 3 years of senior management/administrative
experience in a multi-branch library system, a central library, and/or
experience in managing a major division within a large library system. Some
experience in all three areas (programming, reference, and adult services)
preferred. Significant experience in at least one required. A Master’s degree in
library and information science from an accredited college or university.</P>
