<P>Description: Manages operations of the UO Portland Library and Learning
Commons (PLLC). Designs and delivers classroom and online instruction. Provides
direct user services in areas of reference, research assistance, and technology
consulting. Collaborates extensively with colleagues on the Eugene campus in
library-wide programs of collection development, access services, library
systems, educational technology, media production, and distance education.
Maintains the web presence for the Library and Learning Commons within the
larger library website, and develops new web-based resources as needed. Trains
and supervises staff and student assistants. Serves as member of Instructional
Services Division leadership team, Library Council, and the UO Portland general
management group. Teaches credit courses in the library’s instruction program,
and regularly offers research methods and information literacy classes to
Portland-based programs. Develops and delivers multi-site, videoconference,
web-based, and blended instruction. Serves as library liaison for academic
departments, programs, and institutes based in Portland; collaborates with other
library subject specialists as required. Other related duties as assigned.
Reports to the Associate University Librarian for Instructional Services.</P>
<P>Qualifications: Required: Master's degree from program accredited by the
American Library Association; significant relevant professional experience;
demonstrated success providing reference and instruction to a diverse community
of users; proven capacity for collaborative development and delivery of
innovative information, instructional, and technology services. Solid
understanding of networked communication and educational technologies, including
classroom presentation systems, videoconferencing, and distance education
support; successful supervisory experience in public service environment;
excellent oral and written communication skills as evidenced by strong
professional experience and/or higher degree in a communication-related field;
demonstrated ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively with
staff at all levels and with people of diverse backgrounds. Desired: 4 years or
more post-master’s experience; academic background &/or significant
experience providing library services in support of architecture, art, public
relations, mass media, and strategic communication, &/or closely related
disciplines. The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse
learning and working environment.</P>

fixed-term position reporting to the Assistant University Librarian for Public
Services at the Portland State University Library. The Manager of Public Access
Services provides leadership and management of Public Access Services (PAS)
activities and staff in circulation, resource sharing operations (Summit and
interlibrary loan), reserves, off-site facilities operations, stacks
maintenance, media services, photocopy operations, and van service between
library locations. </P>
