Committee is looking for candidates to run in this spring’s Board of
Trustees election.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><font
size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The committee is
developing a slate of candidates to run for four positions on the Board of Trustees:
<font color=red><span style='color:red'>school <st1:PersonName w:st="on">library</st1:PersonName>
trustee, special <st1:PersonName w:st="on">library</st1:PersonName> trustee and
two at-large trustees.</span></font> Current trustees – <st1:PersonName
w:st="on">Nancy White</st1:PersonName>, school <st1:PersonName w:st="on">library</st1:PersonName>
trustee; Ann Marie Clarke, special <st1:PersonName w:st="on">library</st1:PersonName>
trustee; and <st1:PersonName w:st="on">Greg Cotton</st1:PersonName> and Kate
Gordon, both at-large trustees – will end their two-year terms on the Board
as of June 30. With the exception of Cotton, the current Board chair, the
incumbents are eligible to run for reelection to their seats for a second term.
Among other qualifications, candidates should have significant knowledge and interest
in BCR and its activities, experience with making policy level decisions,
experience with financial oversight for a significant budget and an
understanding of the role of a governing board,<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><font
size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The BCR Nominating
Committee is responsible not only for soliciting candidates to run in the
election, but also for determining which candidates are qualified and then selecting
the nominees to run for each vacancy, with the intention of securing as broad a
representation on the Board as possible in terms of geographical distribution
and different types and sizes of member institutions.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><st1:PersonName
w:st="on"><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Nancy
White</span></font></st1:PersonName>, Academy School District 20 (<st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">Colorado</st1:State></st1:place>) is chairing
this year’s Nominating Committee. She is joined on the committee by Mary
Anne Hansen, Montana State University Libraries; <span lang=EN>Ellen Fockler</span><span
lang=EN>, W</span>ashoe County School District (Nevada); <st1:PersonName w:st="on"><span
lang=EN>MaryKay Dahlgreen</span></st1:PersonName><span lang=EN>, Oregon State
Library; and Susan Hamada, </span>Salt Lake County Library Services (Utah). Under
BCR's bylaws the committee chair is appointed from among the BCR trustees. The remaining
committee members are selected from four member states, assigned alphabetically
on a rotating basis each year.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><font
size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Individuals from
any BCR member institution are eligible to be considered by the Nominating
Committee for inclusion on the election slate. The committee will present its proposed
slate of candidates for approval at the February Board of Trustees meeting.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
