<P>The Eugene Public Library is seeking a forward-thinking, collaborative
professional to join our management team and assume the role of planning,
organizing and supervising the operations of the Technical Services work unit.
The successful candidate will be skilled and experienced in the oversight of
automated acquisitions, cataloging, and physical processing of materials, and in
leading union-represented staff. The Technical Services Manager is responsible
for participating in the development of the Library Division's vision, goals,
and objectives in alignment with the City of Eugene's vision. This position
works collaboratively with others to coordinate and participate in the
development of the Library Division's goals and work plan. This position manages
and mentors 8.5 FTE represented staff.</P>
<P><B>Minimum Requirements:</B> * This position requires a minimum of three
years of progressively responsible professional library experience, including
one year of required supervisory experience in a library setting. * Possession
of a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library
Association-accredited college or university. * Requires valid Oregon driver's
license or ability to obtain by date of hire. Must pass driving records check
and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard.
Additional Desired Characteristics: Candidates should demonstrate an open
management style, a commitment to constantly improving customer service within a
diverse community, the ability and desire to develop emerging library leaders,
enthusiasm for leading organizational change and the management ability to
administer a complex library program. Candidates will have strong organizational
and communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work effectively at all
levels in a complex organization; and the ability to work effectively with
diverse populations. Technical services management and public library experience
preferred. Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred. Fluency

immediate opening for a Children’s Library Assistant, minimum 30 hours per week.
The Children’s Library Assistant will develop considerable knowledge about
children’s library services and early literacy and use this knowledge to plan
and implement a variety of children’s programs. The Children’s Library Assistant
also oversees interlibrary loans and assists in all areas of the library
including reference and circulation. </P>
<P><B>Qualifications:</B> A bachelor’s degree or high school diploma/GED and two
years of experience in library services, early literacy, elementary education,
or related field is required. Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus. Must have

<P>The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine is now accepting applications for a
Reference Services Intern. The Reference Services Intern will be responsible for
providing high quality reference services to OCOM Library patrons. The intern
will also create bibliographic aids and ready-reference materials and may assist
with information literacy instruction. This position may also assist with
special projects at the request of the College Librarian.</P>

<P><B>Qualifications:</B> Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited
college or university is required. · Current student or recent graduate of an
ALA-accredited library school is preferred. · Experience providing reference
services, whether professionally or academically, is preferred; interest in
reference services is essential. · 1 - 2 years of prior experience in an
academic library is preferred, but not required. · Higher education, non-profit,
and/or health care related experience is desirable. · Familiarity with
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preferred, but not required; interest in TCM
is essential.</P>

<P><B>Hours and Stipend: </B>This is an unpaid, 4-month internship beginning in
August and ending in November. A $250 stipend will be awarded upon successful

LA<BR><BR>Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks candidates for the position
of Project Archivist / Cataloger to work on site at an ongoing project in New
Orleans, LA. Working with both restored and undamaged materials, the Project
Archivist / Cataloger oversees the remaining Katrina recovery process for
archives and will create MARC records in Voyager and OCLC for all processed
collections. In addition, the incumbent in this position will design an EAD
implementation plan and will ensure that all existing and new MARC records
conform to necessary standards for EAD cross-walking and implementation.</P>
<P><B>Primary Responsibilities (not all-inclusive):</B> Analyze the level and
quality of existing MARC records for archival materials. Review and assess
finding aids and other access tools for all processed collections. Work in
conjunction with the client to develop a workable cataloging timetable and
priorities. Create original MARC records in OCLC and Voyager to full level for
the description of archival materials ensuring the compliance of data with EAD
data fields and crosswalks. Provide the client with EAD crosswalks and an
implementation proposal. Potentially create more detailed finding aids for
processed archival in collections with minimal finding aids. Oversee the
archival processing tasks associated both with the Katrina Recovery Project and
with the cataloging of collections. Keep the Project Manager informed of all
issues relating to the archives piece of the project. Participate in the
management and oversight of elements of the Katrina Recovery Project. Supervise
Archival Cataloging Technician and other archival project staff.<BR></P>
<P><B>Minimum Qualifications:</B> Master of Library and Information Science
(MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program. Demonstrated knowledge of current trends,
standards, and practices of archival services in academic libraries. Original
and copy cataloging of archival materials mandatory. Experience working with
MARC bibliographic and holdings records mandatory. <BR>Strong knowledge of
Encoded Archival Descriptions (EAD) mandatory. Experience with physical
processing of archives or access provision mandatory. Experience working in
Integrated Library Systems, with a strong preference for Voyager. Understanding
of Document Type Definitions (DTD). Ability to work effectively in a
deadline-driven production environment with changing priorities. Supervisory
experience. <BR></P>

<P><B>Preferred Qualifications: </B>Experience creating EAD cross-walks strongly
preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of ISO/NISO, metadata,
