manages bibliographic data, the application of metadata to audio visual

general bibliographic quality control; defines policies for use of the local
integrated system; coordinates the maintenance of system tables; oversees
coordination of work vendors to monitor and enhance system applications and
obtain and ensure the quality of records; coordinates the daily work of
classified staff and student workers managing quality control of the online
catalog and other bibliographic databases; catalogs monographs and integrates
resources in non-print formats (including DVDs, video games, and electronic
resources) using AACR2 and Library of Congress classification, subject

methods for organization of information resources utilizing established and
emerging bibliographic control mechanisms and metadata standards. Engages in

Portland Community College (PCC) Library is accepting letters of interest for
up to five Regional Consultants for an LSTA-funded project. These are
limited-duration contractual positions paid on an hourly basis at $25.00 per
hour. The project will last from March-July, 2010 and the assignments will
average several hours per week. The estimated number of hours will range from
100 to 300 per consultant. The allocated hours will vary depending on the
research strategy which is currently under development.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>The purpose of the project is to evaluate library-related continuing
education (CE) needs for the entire state of Oregon and to propose a sustainable
model to support this activity. The Regional Consultants (from Eastern Oregon,
Central Oregon, Southern Oregon, Coastal Oregon, and the Willamette Valley)
will be involved in conducting a statewide needs assessment, designing a CE
model for Oregon, and preparing a business plan for a future CE program. The
Regional Consultants will work under the direction of the project’s
Consulting Coordinator with support from the PCC Library Director. They will
gather data from library stakeholders in Eastern, Central, Southern, and
Coastal Oregon and the Willamette Valley, including Portland. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p><b>Desired specifications:</b> Knowledge of the specific regional library
community (Eastern, Central, Southern, Coastal, and Willamette
Valley/Portland). Proven ability to work independently and as part of a virtual
team. Proven effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to
accurately gather data and conduct research. Experience leading focus groups,
analyzing surveys, and other forms of information-gathering and analysis.
Proven interest in library continuing education and the range of methods for
delivering it.<o:p></o:p></p>
