<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">OCOM
is currently migrating its catalog to a new integrated library
system. The Cataloging Intern will assist in this project in a
variety of ways including: </font></font>
</p>
<ul><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Doing
quality control on MARC records;</font></font></p>
</li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Conforming
fields to authority records;</font></font></p>
</li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Assisting
with inventorying current collection; </font></font>
</p>
</li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Instructing
students and staff on using the new catalog;</font></font></p>
</li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Trouble-shooting
cataloging software issues. </font></font>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Education:</font></font></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Minimum
of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is
required.<br></font></font><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Experience:</font></font></p>
<ul><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Current
student or recent graduate of an ALA-accredited library school is
preferred.</font></font></p>
</li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Cataloging
experience, whether professional or academic, is preferred; interest
in cataloging is essential.</font></font></p>
</li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Familiarity
with MARC and/or experience with Innovative cataloging software is
desirable, but not essential.</font></font></p>
</li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Higher
education, non-profit, and/or health care related experience is
desirable.</font></font></p>
</li><li><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">Familiarity
with Traditional Chinese Medicine preferred, but not required.</font></font></p>

and Stipend</b></font></font></p>

is an unpaid internship beginning in early June and ending in
September. A $250 stipend will be awarded upon successful completion.
This position will work approximately 5 – 10 hrs a week and will

OCOM</b></font></font></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">The
Oregon College of Oriental Medicine was founded in 1983 and is one of
the oldest schools of traditional Chinese medicine in the country.
OCOM trains Master’s and Doctoral students, conducts research and
treats patients at clinics on campus and in the community. The campus
is located in Southeast Portland.</font></font></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="3">The
OCOM Research Library has a significant and wide-ranging collection, including books,
journals, DVDs, audio recordings, study models, herbs and student and
faculty research articles. In 2010, the Research Library will be
joining a consortium with other Oregon health sciences libraries which will make
OCOM’s collection more accessible to the broader health education
community and will allow the OCOM community access to a wider range of
health education information and resources.</font></font></p>
