<div>Our library is currently considering the possibility of adopting a system that we have heard referred to as a Person In Charge or PIC system.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Our limited understanding of such a system is that each day a person on staff is designated as the PIC, and that the PIC fields issues that may arise such as; who to call when there’s a mess in the bathroom, what to do/say when someone is smoking too
close to an entryway, how to handle patron conflicts, emergencies, etc. We understand that the PIC rotates on a daily or weekly basis and is not necessarily a member of management.</div>
<div><font face="Calibri, sans-serif" size="2"> </font></div>
<div>If your public library uses such a system, would you be willing to share how it works, if it works and any other key pointers? Additionally, if your library uses a PIC did those staff undergo any special training to equip them with PIC skills?</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If you are able to provide any insights, I would be most grateful if you would e-mail me your thoughts on this subject. <a href="mailto:cdavis@co.klamath.or.us"><font color="#0000FF"><u>cdavis@co.klamath.or.us</u></font></a></div>
