<DIV>The Seaside Public Library has been experiencing an increase in theft of newspapers. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Initially, the "How We Live" section of the <EM>Oregonian</EM> began to disappear. Later, the "Sports" section started going missing. Then, the classifieds from <EM>The Daily Astorian </EM>became absent. Now, pages from our weekly, <EM>The Seaside Signal</EM>, are walking away. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Portions of all our newspapers, except the WSJ, are being stolen on a regular basis.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We keep the <EM>Oregonian </EM>sections behind the circulation desk. Patrons need to ask to read them. We are considering keeping all newpapers behind the Circ desk and holding a photo identification for their use.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Are other libraries experiencing this problem? If so, how do you address the situation? We are open to any and all suggestions. (We do have a newspaper rack with slotted sticks but patrons simply take the papers off the sticks.)</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thanks in advance for the advice,</DIV>
