That job definitely required outside time, but I did get my summers back to either continue my education (a personal goal) to have a second job (as many of them did) or to loaf (as some chose.) I didn’t give up my personal life as a teacher or as a public librarian; but, I did give up half my salary when I first became a public librarian. I love my job but it is also my responsibility to manage my time appropriately both at work and at home.
