June 13-14, 2012
Emporia State University, Emporia, KS

Today many states in the United States have endorsed a set of standards in two critical core subject areas: English Language Arts and Mathematics. The focus of the 15th annual Kansas Summer Institute will be “Reading: Text Complexity and the Growth of Comprehension.”
This is very important for all school librarians, classroom teachers and school administrators.

The Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (“the Standards”) are the culmination of an extended, broad-based effort to fulfill the charge issued by the states to create the
next generation of K–12 standards in order to help ensure that all students are college and career ready in literacy no later than the end of high school.
Make plans to attend this face-to-face, interactive conference featuring text complexity experts. Please see the General Information and Registration documents attached to this message, or visit
