<font face="Times">Lewis & Clark College seeks a team-oriented
Special Collections associate to help in the Aubrey R. Watzek Special
Collections and Archives. Reporting to and working closely with the head of
Special Collections and Archives, the Special Collections associate is
responsible for: developing public services in support of the use of special
collections materials, including reference and research assistance and
classroom instruction; working closely with faculty to promote the use of
departmental holdings in the curriculum; collaborating with reference
librarians, the digital initiatives team and other key library staff to promote
the use of special collections in teaching and learning; creating exhibits and
presenting workshops highlighting special collections materials; overseeing the
use of materials by researchers and scholars in the reading room, and
responding to inquiries from long-distance researchers. Additionally, the
Special Collections associate will work with the digitization of selected
materials, and in cataloguing and processing of special collections materials

and metadata standards related to the storage, search, and discovery of digital
objects..
Ability to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing with library
staff, the college community, and other Library users, ability to work as a
part of a team. Strong patron service orientation. </font><font face="Times">Excellent
written/oral communication and interpersonal skills. Physical ability to lift
heavy boxes and exhibit props.</font>
