<div dir="ltr">Hello,<br><br>The 2013 Oregon State Library Task Force on Collaborative Reference was created earlier this year by State Librarian MaryKay Dahlgreen. They were charged with answering these questions:<br><br>
<blockquote style="margin:0 0 0 40px;border:none;padding:0px">What are the needs of Oregonians in regards to reference and information services?<br><br>Which needs are most important to be addressed on a statewide level?<br>

<br>In summary, the recommendations are: <br><br><blockquote style="margin:0 0 0 40px;border:none;padding:0px">• Continue to operate Answerland, Oregon’s existing statewide collaborative reference service.<br>• Incorporate the creation of self-service tools for libraries and patrons with Answerland’s existing activities.<br>
• Reduce Answerland’s dependence on LSTA funding over 5 years.<br>• Increase funding from Oregon libraries for Answerland over 5 years.<br>• Identify a new fiscal agent for Answerland.<br>• Create a transition team to communicate the changes to Oregon libraries, clarify a funding model, and identify a new fiscal agent and host.<br>
• Use LSTA funds to raise awareness of LSTA-funded programs. </blockquote><br>The recommendations will be considered by the Oregon State Library Board of Trustees at their meeting October 25th 2013 at the State Library in Salem.<br>
