<P class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Hi all:<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>As they say, watch what you wish for or you just might
get it! In my case, I submitted a proposal on behalf of PLD for a annual
conference session on maker spaces (see description below). With a nameless
person’s assurance that that we could backfill a speaker if the proposal was
accepted, I gamely marched forward without a speaker(s) in place. It was a heck
of a lot easier to leave that detail until the future. Well, the future is upon
me, the proposal was accepted, and I write to you, dear reader, for you help in
locating said mysterious speaker(s). Help me!<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>I am looking for someone or two who has real world experience
setting up and implementing a maker space in a library. Do we have such a
situation in Oregon? That is what I am not sure of. <o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Any lead you can give me, I will be happy to track down. I
have until November 15 to locate an enlightened soul or two and convince them to
do my bidding. <o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>In all seriousness, thank you for any help you can
provide!<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Thanks, Mo<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Description of session: Everyone is talking about maker
spaces but what makes a successful maker space? How do libraries know what tools
and materials to purchase? What are the problems libraries have encountered?
Hear from libraries who have implemented maker spaces and learn about what
works, what doesn't work, and how to avoid expensive and time consuming pitfalls
in the new and exciting area of maker spaces.<o:p></o:p></P>
