While I'm certainly not a lawyer, I would think that this part
of the definitions would cover most public libraries and
publicly-funded university libraries. Emphasis added.<br>

"Public building means a hospital, a capitol building, a public
or private school, as defined in ORS 339.315 (Report required if
person has possession of unlawful firearm or destructive
device), a college or university, a city hall or the residence
of any state official elected by the state at large, and the
grounds adjacent to each such building. <i><b>The term also
includes that portion of any other building occupied by an
agency of the state or a municipal corporation</b></i>, as
defined in ORS 297.405 (Definitions for ORS 297.020, 297.230,
297.405 to 297.740 and 297.990), other than a court facility."<br>
<br>
Cities, counties, special districts, and school districts are
all considered municipal corporations. However, as Carol pointed
out, those with concealed carry permits are exempt.<br>

I was working in Idaho, people would carry guns into the
public library. My director said there wasn't anything
that could be done about this because if they were
licensed, they had a legal right to carry the weapons.
The only action I was told would be okay was to not
permit the guns in the children's room. I imagine that
what kind of signs you can put up is dependent upon
where you are located. I agree that checking with your
attorney is good route to go.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

really "loaded" action. <br>

Our city council had to remove theirs as our state
representative is very pro gun and fought them on it
