This position</span><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'> is primarily responsible for central cataloging using the Evergreen ILS. BCLD serves a population of 16,280 with 6 branches and bookmobile, checking out more than 167,000 physical items at last count. An average of 8,500 items are added to the collection per year.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoBodyText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>Must have training or experience with MARC records and Dewey Decimal System classification, and be able to understand and apply AACR2 and RDA cataloging rules. Requires meticulous attention to detail and excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities also include working at the circulation desk, providing reader’s advisory, reference assistance, computer instruction, committee activities and other dirty jobs.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoBodyText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoBodyText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>Bachelor’s degree is required. Preference will be given to applicants with an MLS degree or LSSC completed or to-be-completed within 4 months, library experience, proficiency with the Evergreen ILS system, and fluency in Spanish.
