As part of OEIB’s effort to put all students on track for 3rd grade reading proficiency, the “stORytime” campaign recognizes the critical role of families in the development of basic skills and vocabulary development. The campaign urges parents to find every day, everywhere opportunities to talk, play, read and sing with their children, in any language. StORytime was developed with communities throughout the state, who represent the many families and children in Oregon. It was designed to meet families where they are and empower them to become their child’s first teacher. The campaign was created to build awareness for the connection of literacy and lifelong success, and to galvanize communities to come together to support families to ensure that children are reading on track by third grade. <br><br><span style='background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow'>One feature of the stORytime campaign is an effort to get books into the homes of students across the state through an online book donation portal. Donors can purchase Scholastic books for $2.50 and are issued a tax-deductible receipt from Oregon PTA. Books will be distributed to the elementary school of the donor’s choice or can be sent to a school with the greatest need for books. The Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation will be matching donations, up to $100,000. Together, we’ve set a goal to get 80,000 books in the homes of Oregon students. <o:p></o:p></span></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow'>For more information or to donate a book to an early reader today, visit</span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif'> </span><a href="http://oregonpta.bmetrack.com/c/l?u=406A3D4&e=5561CC&c=1DDFD&t=0&l=AC192CC&email=69tKsivKFCq4WWFH5g5IOdZ3bKLjZiTkaeQzfQ59H%2BI%3D" target="_blank"><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;color:blue'>http://storytimeoregon.com/about/</span></a><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><table class=MsoNormalTable border=1 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 width=350 style='width:262.5pt;border:none;border-top:solid windowtext 1.0pt'><tr><td width=106 valign=top style='width:79.5pt;border:none;padding:3.75pt 3.75pt 3.75pt 3.75pt'><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'><img border=0 width=107 height=108 id="Picture_x0020_1" src="cid:image001.jpg@01CFFC19.23B1CAB0" alt="Library square logo SMALL"></span><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'><o:p></o:p></span></p></td><td valign=top style='border:none;padding:3.75pt 3.75pt 3.75pt 3.75pt'><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'>Maureen Cole</span></b><b><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'><o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'>Library Director<o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'><a href="mailto:mcole@orcity.org"><span style='color:blue'>mcole@orcity.org</span></a><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'>Oregon City Public Library<br>606 John Adams St.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'>Oregon City, Oregon 97045<br>503-657-8269 ext. 1010 Direct phone<br>503-657-3702 fax </span><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'><o:p></o:p></span></p></td></tr></table><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:#1F497D'>Website: </span></b><b><u><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:#2B1CF0'><a href="http://www.orcity.org/library"><span style='color:blue'>www.orcity.org/library</span></a></span></u></b><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:#1F497D'><br><b>Follow us on:</b> <a href="https://www.facebook.com/oregoncitylibrary"><span style='color:blue'>Facebook!</span></a></span><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:#4F81BD'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:#2E74B5'>Subscribe to our</span></b><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:#2B1CF0'> <a href="http://orcity.us5.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=271f21539981149d9f0576ba6&id=38181f8585"><span style='color:blue'>email newsletter!</span></a></span><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:#2B1CF0'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><i><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:blue'>PUBLIC RECORDS LAW DISCLOSURE: This e-mail is subject to the <o:p></o:p></span></i></p><p class=MsoNormal><i><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:blue'>State Retention Schedule and may be made available to the public.<o:p></o:p></span></i></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:9.0pt;color:blue'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p></div></body></html>
