The deadline for applying is Friday, July 28, 2017.</div><div><br></div><div>The Intellectual Freedom Committee is a 9-member standing OLA committee with the charge of supporting the library community's commitment to the freedom to read, open access to information, and other intellectual freedom issues throughout the state. Ongoing projects of the committee include:</div><div><ul><li>supporting Banned Books Week;<br></li><li>sponsoring sessions at the OLA conference on IF issues;<br></li><li>supporting libraries that receive a challenge to their materials;<br></li><li>providing information on IF issues through listserv communication, social media, web tool kits, and other resources;<br></li><li>providing a searchable database of news reports related to intellectual freedom issues in Oregon;<br></li><li>honoring Intellectual Freedom Champions;<br></li><li>working with the Legislative Committee and the OLA Board on topical issues that arise, such as net neutrality.<br></li></ul></div><div>The IFC meets approximately six times a year, plus a short meeting at the OLA annual conference. Most committee members participate remotely, either via GoToMeeting or conference call.</div><div><br></div><div>What's in it for you?
