A shout-out to Margaret Jeffries, Library Director, who does such an outstanding job of outreach and responsiveness to her community.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'>My project to help create more engaged citizens has shown me that the effort must go beyond initial development of the workshops. For every library and location at which I present, research on local governing bodies, elective offices and library resources is necessary. Keeping content current and fresh in other ways is also part of my ongoing process. This takes a lot of time.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'>All this to say that next year I will have to raise my workshop rate slightly, from $300 to $325 [plus expenses if location is more than 30 miles from where I live in North Portland]. I’m announcing this now to give librarians a chance to book the presentations before the rate changes.
