I was not privy to the conversations had at the Governor's office but I do trust Buzzy's and Amanda's leadership on this issue and I do want to honor MaryKay's wishes and strong legacy.

I understand that in our anger and upset that bad behavior such as name-calling, accusations, and other emotionally-fueled speech could backfire on us personally, on our institutions, on our collective Oregon libraries as a whole. It has
always been difficult to speak truth to power and likely always will be. It's even harder when we know (and we must absolutely know) that we need to extraordinarily civil and professional in order to be worthy of - and show the inherent worth of - our library
vocations.

All of that said, I reiterate what Amy mentioned: I do not yet have a compelling enough reason to believe that this is the time to back down on our demands for transparency about the workings of the dismissal of our esteemed colleague, nor to just let it go
and move on for the good of libraries. I think that I am going to have to be given some very good reasons as to why I should not continue to make demands of the senate and the governor's office or it is going to be very difficult for me to believe that I should
let this go and move on.
