<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt; color:#2E75B6">Congratulations to Jeremy Skinner and staff at Curry Public Library (CPL). They are one of the 2018-2023 recipients of the
<a href="https://www.oregon.gov/ode/schools-and-districts/grants/ESEA/21stCCLC/Pages/Grants-Guidance.aspx">
<span style="color:#2E75B6">21st Century Community Learning Center grant</span></a> from ODE. The grant supports “the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students
who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools.” CPL will receive about $250,000 per year for 3 years and then 75% of that in years 4 and 5.
</span></p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt; color:#2E75B6"> </span></p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt; color:#2E75B6">Library staff will run an after school program for middle schoolers 3 days a week in the new CPL learning center and 2 days a week at the local middle school. During the 3 days at the library,
the students will be divided into groups of 3. Each group will rotate between structured tech lab time, tutor/mentor/study time, and an enrichment time. The enrichment time will be different depending on the day of the week, but will include a range of activities
led by community partners including health/wellness, art, science/nature, personal finance, etc. The grant allows the library to provide snacks, transportation, and dedicated paid staff to run the program.</span></p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt; color:#2E75B6"> </span></p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt; color:#2E75B6">They might be the first public library to be a direct recipient of 21<sup>st</sup> Century Community Learning Center grant funds.
