We are pleased to announce a slate of workshops in transparent design for library instruction in academic libraries. Funded by a generous Oregon LSTA grant, the initial train-the-trainer workshop in transparent design was held in fall
2020 and the participants of this workshop are ready to share their learning, with areas of focus that reflect their individual professional interests.

Transparent instruction design has been cited as an important method of ensuring that students who are unfamiliar with the traditional structure and culture of higher education (such as first-generation students) have the same understanding
of academic expectations as do all other students. Transparent design calls for instructors to explicitly discuss with students the purpose of an assignment or activity and how students’ success will be evaluated, and the initial fall workshop sought to translate
this principle, more common in non-library instruction, to academic libraries.

Registration is free and open to any academic library employee in the state of Oregon. Each workshop is around 90 minutes long. To register, please use the following form to submit your name, institution, and the workshop you are interested
