Our wifi in the parking lot has always been amazing and on 24/7. We've always had folks who use it in the parking lots.</div></div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Last spring, our Foundation provided a bunch of hotspots to school districts to help students who didn't have internet.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Chiming in with support for what Barbara and Beth said, people's financial situations have changed dramatically. And people need internet access to file for and number of services, vaccine paperwork, and look for work. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Also, their financial situations is not our business and having a hot spot for a week then placing it on hold, and then using it for another week really isn't the same as internet all the time.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Also a hotspot (internet over a satellite) is not exactly luxury service. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Sandra Beck, who is the building manager of our Mariner Library, lead the team that made hotspot and laptop checkout happen for SIL. I am in agreement with Beth, that focusing on those who need hotspots is the important point, not subsidizing those who can afford it. And during these times the economics have changed for a vast majority of people. So, it seems to me that allowing all patrons
to have access is what libraries and their boards should stand for, not limiting access. </div>

Worrying about subsidizing people who can afford their own service seems similar to the faulty logic that focuses on the small amount of welfare fraud that happens in contrast to all those who need it and it helps.</div>
