These projects can span up to twelve months, and will result in archival collections preserved at the AFC and made accessible through the Library of Congress’ web site (as well as remain with source communities and organizations).</span></p><p style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt"> </span></p><p style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">The major goals of this grant program are to support communities in documenting their cultural life and experiences from their own perspectives, while enriching the Library’s holdings with diverse materials featuring knowledge and creativity found at the local level. As such, successful applications will come from individuals or small organizations closely affiliated with the community and traditions they propose to document.</span></p><p style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt"> </span></p><p style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">To be eligible, projects must involve <b>new, original</b> field research and documentation of contemporary cultural life and activities from communities within the U.S.</span> <span style="font-size:12pt">Funding through these grants can be used to cover travel, equipment rental or purchase, and other expenses associated with cultural documentation fieldwork.
