and is seeking new members. We are looking for individuals who are passionate
about intellectual freedom and eager to support and advocate for the
intellectual freedom needs of Oregon libraries, especially in a time of

Intellectual Freedom Committee is a 9-member standing OLA committee with the
charge of supporting the library community's commitment to the freedom to read,
open access to information, and other intellectual freedom issues throughout
the state. Ongoing projects of the committee include:</span></p>

<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">supporting
Banned Books Week;</span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">sponsoring
sessions at the OLA conference on IF issues;</span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">supporting
libraries that receive intellectual freedom challenges including to
materials and other IF issues;</span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">providing
information on IF issues through listserv communication, social media, web
tool kits, and other resources;</span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">providing
a searchable database of news reports related to intellectual freedom
issues in Oregon;</span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">honoring
Intellectual Freedom Champions;</span></li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">working
with the Legislative Committee and the OLA Board on topical issues that
arise, such as net neutrality.</span></li>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><br></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Members are
asked to serve at least two years. The IFC meets approximately six times a
year, plus a short meeting at the OLA annual conference. Committee members
participate remotely, either via Zoom or conference call.<span style="color:rgb(31,73,125)"> </span>Applicants must be available to attend
