Hopefully this is an appropriate use of this listserv, but I'm actually reaching to to the libraries of Oregon to solicit some recommendations for a library to receive a large donation of new books in late September.</div>

I wear many hats, but one of the hats I wear is that I am one of the organizers of the
<a href="https://www.pnba.org/rural-library-project.html" id="LPlnk" title="https://www.pnba.org/rural-library-project.html">
Rural Library Project</a> for the <a href="https://www.pnba.org/tradeshow.html" id="LPlnk" title="https://www.pnba.org/tradeshow.html">
Pacific Northwest Bookseller Association</a>. Every year at the PNBA fall tradeshow lots of different vendors and publishing houses bring a bunch of new stock that they don't want to ship back and so they donate it to the Rural Library Project on the last day
that the exhibit hall is open. I've been working with PNBA for a few years now and we always get a nice mix of books: Adult fiction and non-fiction, children's books (including board books), and middle grade and YA novels. Most of these are hardback and again,
they are brand new (cook books anyone?)! We also tend to get multiple copies of the same book, so if you are looking for some opportunities to add some new books to your book sales, this is a great option! There are also ARCs that you could potentially use
for program giveaways (since they <u>cannot</u> be sold as Advance Reader Copies!), book clubs, or just a free book for your non-card holders. </div>

How the process works is that you reach out to me and let me know that you would like to nominate your library (or another library that you love and want to support!) and I reach out to the organization and ask if they would be interested in the donation.
<b><u>The receiving library is 100% responsible for picking-up and transporting the book donations from the tradeshow site (in Portland this year) to their library.</u></b> This is a great time to tap your Friends groups if your library has them! Libraries
receiving this donation are ideally libraries who have traditionally struggled to have sufficient funds for collection development. </div>
