<div dir="ltr"><div>North Douglas Library District does this for all in-district students. Student cards are created at any time during the school year and are tied to either the teacher or an administrator for contact purposes only. This allows all children in the district to have a card without parent or guardian signature. Student cards are limited to two checkouts. We do have the ability to override for students to check out more. In the nearly seven years since we offered this, we have lost three books. If a student is missing a book their card will still check out one book at a time. If they don't return the book by the following September they start over.</div><div><br></div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr">Miriam Sisson <br><div>Director<br></div><div>Mildred Whipple Library, North Douglas Library District</div><div><a href="http://ndld.org" target="_blank">ndld.org</a><br></div><div>541-836-2648</div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><br></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Thu, Aug 7, 2025 at 12:51 PM akuestner--- via Libs-Or <<a href="mailto:libs-or@omls.oregon.gov" target="_blank">libs-or@omls.oregon.gov</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">Hello,<br>
<br>
Do any public libraries in Oregon offer institutional library cards, <br>
such as for schools? For instance, a school could borrow books from a <br>
public library as an institution instead of as an individual employee or <br>
be the guarantor on a student's account instead of a parent. If so, how <br>
does that work at your library?<br>
<br>
Lower Umpqua Library is in the early stages of arranging lending <br>
agreements with local schools and we're trying to figure out how this is <br>
handled by other libraries.<br>
<br>
Thank you,<br>
