The Wyoming State Library is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly and
organized professional to join our library development team as the Outreach
and Development Librarian! We’re looking for someone who wants to support
libraries out in the field by providing library development project
management, consulting, survey and data reference services, and guidance on
meeting the needs of underserved populations. This person will also serve
as co-coordinator for the federal grants program.

Job Description
The Outreach and Development Librarian will work with underserved
populations, including the 13 state institutions. The institution libraries
provide services to confined populations including people with mental
illness or developmental disabilities, the elderly, incarcerated juveniles
and adults, as well as services to those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
This person will manage LSTA collection development stipends to these
libraries, serve as a consultant to them, and perform site visits.
This position serves as the State Data Coordinator for the Public Libraries
Survey. We’re looking for someone who can work with public library
directors and their designees to collect valid, consistent statistics.
Afterward, they’ll need to find their way around a spreadsheet to process
the results for submission to the Institute of Museum and Library Services
and to provide value-added data products to the library community.
Microsoft Excel and basic numerical skills are a must; advanced statistical
skills are preferred but not required. Data collected helps libraries
analyze their own services in comparison with others, make data-driven
decisions, and advocate for their libraries. Other data duties include
survey design and providing statistical research.
The successful candidate will serve as co-coordinator for Wyoming’s federal
Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grants and any additional grants
from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). As a
co-coordinator, this person will advise staff on projects supported by
federal funds, and ensure adherence to IMLS guidelines and to Wyoming’s
5-year-plan for IMLS funds. Duties include developing, collecting, and
maintaining documentation in order to complete the annual report to IMLS on
the grant.
As part of the State Library’s reference team, this person will demonstrate
exceptional customer service in providing reference services to state
government employees, researchers, and other patrons. In addition, this
position may also work on the Wyoming Newspapers digital collection.
