How about a dinner subgrant meeting at the ballpark?

The Brewers are in town and all the Milwaukee bars seem intent on helping us to get there via Brewers shuttles 😊

Here’s a list of bars/restaurants with shuttles, plus a few random hotels. https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/brewers-shuttles.
Looks like the price of a ride is a beer or food, which you can take with on the shuttle.
Unfortunately, the Hilton isn’t on the list (ahem), but there are 3 locations that I see that are a few blocks away (Who’s on Third, Milwaukee Brat House, Third Street Tavern)... and maybe others.
I think the bars all have different hours of bus operation on game day (Milwaukee Brat house says buses leave the stadium at the bottom of the 7th), so maybe some we can crowdsource the best option. We can buy tix at the box office.

There’s also Uber, but I don’t suppose you can take your beer to go in an Uber.

We offer competitive subgrants each year.  Libraries submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) in January and an official application in April.  For FY2024, we received 112 applications and awarded 97 grants.  See NOI form attached for a list of grant programs.

I like the X factor idea! Like a grant in a box – and maybe offer box 1, box 2, and box 3, all with different versions. (Am I getting too Cat-in-the-hatty?)

Michigan used to do a small summer programming grant and a larger year long project grant. We are still doing the larger one, but the small one is on hold. I am pondering how to revamp it so I don’t have to review 150-200 ideas and budgets in a few weeks flat and then do the same with the reimbursements a few months later. The workload is too much. I am considering identifying a few summer projects – You can do X with this exact purchasing list and these evaluation questions. I welcome any insights on how and how well you think it might work.

If we don’t have time in sessions, maybe we could have a subgrants discussion dinner one of the days.

Please include me on any info. We don’t have a very active subaward program right now, but would love to revamp.
I keep talking about ideas and what might be appealing to (especially smaller) libraries. The 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence keeps ricocheting around in my brain – and I’m trying to come up with a good tie-in that’s really inclusive. Maybe we could brainstorm in Milwaukee as well?
