Hi Lyndsay,

Here’s the answer we gave in 2023:

‘Two long-time partners are the Center for The Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) working closely with our Talking Book and Braille Center, and the New Jersey Office of New Americans, that help us stay abreast of social needs in our communities. Both organizations are linked above.

We've developed a new partnership with the NJ Health Department and are the lead on an ACP grant from FCC that helps provide connectivity to eligible households. We're also working with the governor's office on a Treasury award for Capital Projects Fund.

We've reached out to the NJ Department of Education, but they don't have information about how many schools have libraries or what staff they have. We'd love to develop better partnerships with more state agencies as well as federal programs where we can help each other.’

Since then ACP was cancelled and NJ legislature passed a digital literacy requirement for K-12, so now we are working with the Dept of Ed. ?? We’re also working currently on the semiquincentennial (REV 250 in NJ) with our state group, as well as independently, but keeping each other abreast, to help develop programs and avoid overlapping. (Just adding this last information in case it prompts something for you.)

Wishing you a successful virtual visit!

Best,

Maura

Subject: [lstac] site visit checklist question

Good afternoon,

I am working my way through the site visit checklist and I'm curious how others have answered this question:

How is the SLAA working with other State agencies (where appropriate) to coordinate resources, programs, and activities, and leverage, but not replace, the Federal and State investment in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Head Start Act, Workforce Investment Act, and other Federal programs and activities that relate to library services, including economic and community development and health information?

While I know it will look different for each state, I'm at a loss about how to approach this and would appreciate seeing other responses or thoughts. Our last site visit checklist also had this question but what we wrote didn't actually answer the question.

Thank you!
